We like to think our words are doing the heavy lifting in communication.
But often… they’re not.
Recently, a client was walking me through a situation. As she spoke, something stood out immediately—her tone.
Not the words.
Not the story.
The tone.
It was obvious to me…and completely invisible to her. And it was working against her, the relationship, and the outcome she wanted.
I asked if I could reflect something back. She said yes.
I said, “It sounds like you’re pleading. When someone is pleading, it’s implying that the other person in the conversation holds the power.”
“Wow.”
I continued, “What would it sound like to communicate from a place of confidently owning your own power?”
That’s the thing about blind spots.
We can’t see them—but they’re shaping our results.
Especially in emotional or high-stakes situations, we default to patterns that quietly reinforce what we’re trying to change.
Different results require different behavior.
And that starts with different thinking.
So how are you accessing thinking you can’t see on your own?
If this hits, let’s talk.
Make it a great day!
